A headshot is an image mostly composed of the subject's head or face. Its purpose is to put a face to a name. Common uses are profile pictures or other places where size is limited. They are typically cut off just below the shoulders.

Portraits aim to capture the essence and personality of the subject. Shots are typically wider to show more of the subject, as well as their surroundings.

Once we book your session and your deposit is received, we schedule a 15-minute videoconference where we meet and you share what you'd like to get out of the session. Our videoconference also allows me to see your features and plan ahead for the photo session. This is particularly important for portrait photography. I also find that this step helps to break the ice so on the day of the shoot we're not complete strangers meeting for the first time.

I encourage you to arrive at the studio ready to shoot. This means having hair and makeup done and wearing your first outfit.

Once you arrive, I'll make the final adjustments to the studio for our shoot and get to it. The sessions are fun and relaxed, often with music in the background. I will provide direction so that we can photograph you at your best. On occasion we will stop and review what we've captured so that we can discuss any adjustments we'd like to make.

We recommend solid colors and simple patterns — they photograph best and keep the focus on you. Avoid large logos or busy prints. Bring 1–2 outfit options so we can find what works best in the studio lighting. For headshots, collared shirts, blazers, and clean necklines tend to look great.

Mini sessions run about 45 minutes and include one look (outfit/setup). Full sessions are approximately 2 hours with two looks. We never rush — the goal is to get you comfortable and capture your best self.

Photos are delivered electronically as smaller, watermarked jpg files for the initial review, shortly after the photo shoot is complete. The goal is for you to have everything we shot quickly at hand. These photos are not final and are only used for review purposes.

You will select the pictures you would like to retouch and submit the review back to me. I will work on retouching them and then deliver the full resolution originals and the retouched files for you to download. These full resolution jpg files are large enough for most non-commercial printing. I do not watermark the photos of the final delivery.

I can also share all of the original photos with you on request. Keep in mind these are large files.
